Girl Who Claims to Feel More Feminine After Growing a Beard

Harnaam Kaur from Slough who suffers from polycystic ovary syndrome is now growing a beard and says it makes her feel more feminine than ever.

The condition the 23-year-old has causes excessive hair growth.

When it first started to appear, Harnaam was just 11-years-old and tried to get rid of it by waxing as much as twice a week and wearing baggy clothes.

She had to put up with abuse at school and strangers staring at her on the streets. This made Harnaam so self-conscious that she refused to leave the house and would only go out for lessons.

At one point Harnaam began self-harm and even thought about taking her own life.

It was at the age of 16 she found the courage to except her condition and her facial hair; this was after being baptised as a Sikh.

The religion orders to leave the body in natural state and to leave the body hair to grow.

Her decision caused a debate amongst her family, but Harnaam was firm on her decision and was determined to show she was more beautiful; regardless of what she looked like.

Now, after seven years, Harnaam declares she is more body confident than ever and she also hopes that her story will help and inspire other woman who are also facing the same situation.
