ICC has announced T20 World Cup schedule and fixtures dates as per FTP of Cricket, which is due to start in Bangladesh from the 16th of March to the 6th of April, 2014. It is set to take place in four major cities, which include: Chittagong, Sylhet, Mirpur and Cox’s Bazar.
For the first time, the tournament will consists of 16 teams, which will include 10 full members qualified directly and six associate members qualified through 2013 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier.
There will be a total of 51 matches played during the 2014 T20 World Cup. These include the 16 warm-up matches, 32 group matches, two semis and finals.
All teams will play four group matches before they qualify for the semis and final. Pakistan will be meeting their arch-rivals India in their opening match on Friday 21st March.
How It Works
The start is scheduled for the 16th of March.
Sixteen teams will be involved.
The smaller sides play in two initial qualifying groups of four and the winners join the major nations in the Super Ten Stage; this is made up of two groups of five.
The top two teams from each Super Ten group continue to the semi-finals.
The final is scheduled for the 6th of April.
