Matt Cutts, Google’s head of search spam declared at Search Marketing Expo that his search team is working the ‘next generation’ Panda update, which would be seen by many as being softer.
Cutts also explained how the new Panda update will have a direct impact on helping small businesses to do better.
Exactly when this new update will be coming out wasn’t mentioned; however, the work is currently in progress.
Google did do a softer update to the Panda algorithm around July last year, which shows that this would not be the first time Google would be releasing a softer Panda update.
One of the people in the team is especially working on ways to help small websites and businesses to do better in the Google search results. The next generation update to Panda is one specific algorithmic change, which should hopefully have a positive impact on the smaller businesses.
Today, Panda is more of a monthly rolling update and Google is unlikely to confirm any more future Panda updates.
