An ongoing thread that tracks Google activity has webmasters and SEOs asking whether there are any algorithmic updates going on, either Panda or Penguin. The WebmasterWorld responded by saying, Google has not said anything about any update, but there has been many penalties, widespread targets and manual actions on the manual side, which happened over the past couple of weeks.
E.g.) this week a blog network was penalized, which had an effect on many of the publishers regarding that network. Last week, Google also took action on link networks in Spain, Italy and Germany. Before that, networks in Poland and France were also targeted.
Targeting networks that use links to operate Google’s rankings is clearly what Google has stepped up their activity to take action in. Both larger networks and smaller scale manual actions are involved.
There has also been a Panda refresh.
