The reality TV rapper Benzino has been shot and injured while attending his mother’s funeral.
Allegedly by his nephew, who is held over the shooting that left Benzino with a shoulder injury.
Benzino, whose real name is Raymond Scott, 48 had been driving in the funeral procession in Duxbury, Massachusetts, when Gai Scott pulled in a Bentley alongside and fired into Raymond’s Dodge SUV.
The boss of weekly Hip-Hop sought help from a passer-by and was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds. He is reported to be in a critical condition.
Friends, family and his fiancé Althea Heart are said to be at his bedside.
Gai Scott, 36 has been arrested and charged with assault with the intention to murder.
There had been an on-going quarrel between the pair, it has been claimed.
He is due to appear in court on Monday.
A statement said Benzino had been shot in the shoulder.
It also said, “At this time we ask that you keep Benzino in your prayers as we are hoping for a speedy recovery.”
His mother’s funeral service in Plymouth was delayed by the shooting and police questioning of mourners, but still went ahead.
