Denver Husband shoots wife after consuming Colorado Cannabis

Richard Kirk, 44, shot his wife, Kristine, a mother-of-three after consuming cannabis in Colorado, the first state in which the drug can be bought for recreation.

She had phoned 911 and stated that her husband was hallucinating about “the end of the world”. The call was initially classed as a non-life threatening domestic dispute. But soon after the sound of the gun shot and Kristine screaming were heard on the phone. She was already dead when the police arrived, shot once in the head, and Kirk was arrested on suspicion of murder. It is alleged that he confessed immediately and did not resist arrest.

Kirk who lived in Denver’s affluent Observatory Park neighbourhood worked as a designer for a tiling company. His friends described him as dedicated to his family. His brother Shane, was shocked by Kirk’s drug use as well as the effect that it had had on him. This is the second death related to cannabis use within a month. The first being Levy Thamba who jumped to his death after consuming cannabis infused  cookies.
