As of last summer, Google has allowed developers to deploy their applications through App Engine, by using git, as opposed to using SDK. As of today developers can use GitHub service to manage their code repositories as well. App Engine can now be connected to the devlopers GitHub repository and deployment can be triggered though simply pushing their project’s master branch on the service to App Engine.
By using the standard git tools instead of Google’s SDK the deployment process for should become much simple for many developers.
As Git has become the standard technology for most developers, GitHub being so widely used a service, and deploying from git to AWS being standard procedure, failure to support it has already put Google at some disadvantage. Microsoft already supports it for both Azure and in its Visual Studio development environment.
