Diver Is Almost Swallowed By Whale

Rainer Schimpf was just metres away from being swallowed by a 40 tonne whale. This happened whilst he was filming the yearly sardine run of the coast of South Africa.

The tour operator was out with his wife, Silke and guests.

Silke managed to take a picture as the whale was just yards away from her husband.

The 15 metre Bryde’s whale rushed up through the fish, with its giant mouth open to catch as much as possible. The 47-year-old thought he was to become part of the meal.

“I saw him coming up and thought that’s it for me. The diameter of his mouth was big enough to swallow a car,” he said.
