If you use Google on Internet Explorer 8, you will now find that the default experience will not be over SSL. Therefore, the referrer data will pass in full to the webmaster.
Late last year, Google virtually switched their search results page to 100% SSL. As a result, a 90%+ count was produced of not provided keyword data in analytics.
However, if you use Google on Internet Explorer 8 today, you will find that the experience is no longer SSL enabled.
You will find ‘https’ has been replaced with ‘http’.
Some changes are due to take place in the near future to IE8, and this maybe one.
However, others who know about this change are just hoping that this is just a sign of what Google promises to change with not provided, which is why the SSL is being dropped.
